Pay to play?

It seems like this game is fun but you need some sort of currency to play to buy each bird. Why couldnt Rovio just keep it like the last game and just have the user play the game when they want, not have to wait for tokens to buy birds to use. This is again another way of companys wanting to add in game currency that you need to buy in order to play more. Not a good move by Rovio
